This Barrow’s Goldeneye (Bucephala islandica) was a bit too far away from a great shot (cropped). I’m still hoping for some proximity on capturing this behavior photographically. But, in the interim, I love watching the courtship rituals with goldeneyes and buffleheads, as the males skip across the water in pursuit. Photographed at the Ballard Locks, Seattle.
