Olympic, World and Continental Champions confirm attendance ISAF Sailing World Cup Final--Purse $200,000






The ISAF Sailing World Cup Final will take place in two months in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and a host of sailing champions have confirmed their participation. The ten Olympic events carry prizes totaling $200,000.

Participants will include 2014 470 World and Open European Champions, Mat Belcher and Will Ryan (AUS), Lara Vadlau and Jolanta Ogar (AUT). These participants will take part in the men’s and women’s fleets.


Numerous World and Olympic gold medallists’ will take part in the Laser and Laser Radial.

2014 Laser World Champion Nicholas Heiner (NED), silver medallist Tom Burton (AUS), and four-time world championship medallist Nick Thompson (GBR), London 2012 Olympic silver medallist Pavlos Kontides (CYP), and Tonci Stipanovic (CRO) will all be in the event.


Paige Railey (USA) and Tina Mihelic (CRO), both former Laser Radial World Champions will also be in Abu Dhabi. Railey took world championship gold in 2005, and Mihelic took the same in 2013. ISAF Worlds silver medallist Josefin Olsson (SWE) and London 2012 bronze medallist Evi Van Acker (BEL) will also be in the event.


In the Women’s RS:X, Charline Picon (FRA) will try to take the regatta for the fifth time straight. Picon has a number of championship wins under her, incluing World, European, World Cup Mallorca and Olympic Test Event gold medals. Flavia Tartaglini (ITA), 2014 ISAF Worlds bronze medallist Maayan Davidovich (ISR) and Olympic bronze medallist Bryony Shaw (GBR) will offer competition.


In the Men’s RS:X, Przemyslaw Miarczynski (POL), Piotr Myszka (POL), Nick Dempsey (GBR), Toni Wilhelm (GER), Byron Kokkalanis (GRE), Mattia Camboni (ITA) and Tom Squires (GBR) will compete.


World Champion Maxime Nocher (FRA) and European Champion Oliver Bridge (GBR) will compete in the IKA Formula Kite along with Riccardo Leccese (ITA) and Florian Trittel (ESP).

Each of the ten Olympic events and the open IKA Formula Kite event will have a participation limit of 20 boats.


The events will kick off in Abu Dhabi on November 26 with an open kiteboarding event around Lulu Island,
